Skyrim Special Edition settings, comparison shots, and performance
In game settings. Hi, in this guide you'll learn how to properly set your game options, configure your. Note: i'm not responsible if the settings you apply to the game will cause its malfunction.
However these problems can commonly be solved by reinstalling the game or cleaning the settings files. Follow this guide at your own risk. This guide is meant to help the players to get a better game experience, even on low end computers, gaining more FPS and maybe fixing some issues. In this section, you'll learn how to set your in game settings correctly, making the game look good and smooth.
Graphics Adapter - Select your graphic card Aspect Ratio - Your monitor aspect ratio Resolution - Chose the resolution you want but remember that if you're getting low FPS, decreasing it you'll improve game performance but the game will look blurry.
Antialiasing - It smoothes the game, making everything look sharper. If you disable it you'll get a huge FPS boost. Anisotropic filtering - It doesn't affect the performance too much, if you got a good video card set it to 16 samples.
Windowed mode - Tick it to run the game in windowed mode. It might slow down the FPS on some systems. Now, click on the Advanced FXAA - If you don't use antialiasing but want to smooth the look of the game tick it, it won't be as heavy as the normal antialiasing. Unticking some of these values will increase your FPS but decrease the number of items reflected by the water.

Southpawe View Profile View Posts. I personally just like the bow animations from archery combat overhaul and I just pulled them from the Oldrim mod page optimized for SSE and put them in the player exclusive animation mod's folder.
If you wanted to just manually take the animations out like I did then there should be no problem with 3PCO. Archery Combat Overhaul normally changes the horizontal and vertical values to better suit the camera for shooting a bow, but those changes it makes are based on vanilla camera settings. So in your case it will make it's changes as if you have vanilla camera settings which may or may not make it usable with 3PCO depending on how similar your custom camera settings are to vanilla.
If you can find the exact values that Archery Combat Overhaul changes the camera, you could in theory negate them with your own custom archery settings in 3PCO. Last edited by Southpawe ; 22 Mar, pm. Per page: 15 30 Date Posted: 22 Mar, pm. Posts: 2. Discussions Rules and Guidelines.

View mobile website.Like Alan Wake before it, Control is one tough customer when it comes to getting smooth PC performance. But first, some minimum and recommended specs. Below are said mini-fridge specs, which are still the latest and most up to date PC requirements for Control, and at first glance it all looks like pretty standard stuff.
To see what each graphics card made of Control, click the links below. The Dead Letters room, meanwhile, is an even more cavernous space for graphics cards to deal with, plus there are lots of stairs, lighting effects and things to look at. The main differences lie in how all that chaotic debris gets lit. At the moment, Control only has a limited number of graphics options in its main Display menu, but more are on the way in an update later this September, including an option to turn off its heavy motion blur effect.
This should help push up your average frame rate by another couple of frames. Apart from that, though, turning down any of the other quality settings here would pretty much land us in straight up Medium territory, so you may just have to bite the bullet and say goodbye to playing on higher settings until we see what this motion blur option brings to the table.
Just click the page numbers below or hop back up the page to the card of your choice. If you click our links to online stores and make a purchase we may receive a few pennies.

On Windows systems, the easiest way to identify your video hardware is to run DxDiag, which is short for DirectX diagnostic. To do this:. You may be asked if you want to check for digital signatures. You don't need to for this, so click "No". Within this box will be your processor and memory information.
Under the tab 'Display' will be the information about your video card, in the Device box. You can also use an external program to find computer details and more accurately determine if your computer is able to run Skyrim. See the External Links section for some such programs. The following represents what Bethesda's officially released specifications for Skyrim are, according to BethBlog.
It is also important to note that even if a system meets these, it may still have very low performance. The recommended specs let you play on High, not on Ultra. You'll want [a] beefier rig for that. The Skyrim Special Edition runs on an updated engine with a host of graphical improvements, and as such requires higher specs.
The following are the officially recognized specifications according to Bethesda. Notably, it does not run on bit machines like the original release. The video card market is flooded with cards with various clock speeds and architectures, so making a totally accurate list of all available cards is simply impractical. In order to make this list, several generalizations have been made, and several cards have been omitted for space.
Also note that much of this list is user-reported; your experience may vary. These are generalizations based on the entire series of cards, single cards can be quite different from the rest of the series.Nothing like taking apart a new toy as soon as you get home.
Skyrim 's been out for less than a day and there has been a flood of information on everything from modsto tweaks, to common sense settings that never made it into the game's instruction booklet looking at you Favorites system.
So we took some time today and put together a small compilation of a variety of tweaks and guides to help you get the most out of your new toy known as Skyrim.
GameSpy fan, KronicCusador, figured this out in a matter of minutes. First, assign a weapon, item, or spell to your Favorites. While in-game open your Favorites Q and highlight an object name.
Now press a number key on to assign that object. That's it! But what if you want to assign these objects to a specific hand? By default the above description will only hotkey something to your left. In case you're not in the "know," FOV is your field of vision. In this case, it's the field of view from the perspective of your playable character. If you want to see more of your character's hands and weaponsyou'll want to follow these instructions we found 80 to 85 to be a good range.
Experiment with it for awhile to find a viewpoint that suits you. This stands for Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing. If you've been PC gaming for awhile, you've no doubt run into anti-aliasing options in the past. Typically, if you turn AA off you'll increase performance at the risk of running into a whole bunch of jagged texture images. FXAA is kind of the same thing, except its performance hit to your machine tends to be minimal with comparable quality to playing with anti-aliasing turned on.
Overall it's not a huge gain but we'll continue to play the game with FXAA on instead of using anti-aliasing. This can vary depending on your rig of course, so see which setting works best for you.
When you are hit in combat you'll see your screen blur slightly. Well, that's Radial Blur, designed to give the effect of you becoming disoriented when you're getting knocked around by an enemy. You can reduce the quality of the effect if you want to improve combat performance, especially if you're noticing some slowdown. GameSpy fan, wazups-2x, has provided some other nice tweaks in our comments and we've re-purposed his contributions here.
This involves modifying the Skyrim. You can find the Skyrim. Edit the. Fixing Mouse Lag If your experiencing mouse lag you'll want to disable vsync -- this isn't included in the game options. To do this go to the part of the Skyrim. You won't have to look far: it's located in the same Skyrim directory and remember to make a copy of it first before you start modifying it.
These instructions will allow you to improve the look and shadows of trees and some land objects by allowing them to receive shadows. Skyrim Nexus is a great place to start as well as our sister site FilePlanet. As for tweaks, SegmentNext has put together a fairly in-depth guide on how to increase performance, so we recommend you check that out as well.

Guide:Skyrim Configuration Settings
Its purpose is geared toward how these will affect the game rather than being a comprehensive resource. The following nomenclature is used throughout this guide and should be understood before proceeding. The following terms are used to describe the INI files as they relate specifically to Mod Organizer mod management tool.
It can modify all settings used by the game. Any values for settings in Skyrim. Under the hood, only certain settings flagged and hard-coded into the game executable can be changed in SkyrimPrefs. This means it can modify all settings in Skyrim.
It overwrites all values for all settings duplicated in any other INI file. Each setting has a typically lowercase prefix and a name. The name identifies what the setting modifies.Be a reactionary, but dont overreact
The prefix determines what kind of value the setting can accept. Below is a list of the different prefixes and their meanings. Many values to settings may be changed via the in-game settings menu and the console. The in-game settings menu may be accessed by pressing the Escape Esc key and clicking Settings.
The Audio submenu changes the volume of different kinds of sounds. Some mods like Audio Overhaul for Skyrim change the default kinds of sounds listed here. The setini command changes values to settings while in-game. Some settings will immediately change in-game, but others will not. Current values for settings may be retrieved by using the getini command.1769 compactlogix
Floating point values are not displayed beyond two decimal places. It is also possible to refresh the values of some settings from the INI files if changed after launching Skyrim by typing the refreshini command in the console.I've been messing around with the Skyrim Special Edition this evening, and along with comparing how it looks to the unmodded original, I've also got some information on the available settings and how well it performs.
You might also be interested in knowing how the Special Edition works with existing saved games and mods. In other words, high, low, or off. There are tickboxes for screen space reflections, ambient occlusion, precipitation occlusion, snow shader, lens flare, and bit render targets.
The in-game settings menu provides sliders for the fade distances of things like NPCs, items, objects, and grass, and there's also a depth of field slider. One thing that stands out sort of immediately: there's no FOV slider. Everywhere I go, whether running through the woods, riding across the plains, and even in Solitude where I started a fight that resulted in about a dozen guards and citizens all whomping on me at once, both indoors and outdoors, I never lost more than a few frames, and then only momentarily.
It's been a smooth ride so far. Which isn't to say this isn't still a Bethesda RPG. While the visuals have been improved, Skyrim is still Skyrim and the bugs and glitches that shipped with the original game are still there. Above, you can see the opening sequence, and how a random horse winds up getting in the way of the actors who are busy trying to execute me. The horse became such a problem that the sequence stalled before the dragon could show up, so we all just stood around staring and waiting.
After several minutes it was clear Mr. Ed wasn't going to be moved, so I had to restart. It hasn't changed much after all. The images below were taken using the same saved game, first taking a screenshot in the original Skyrim, saving the game there, then transferring the save file to Skyrim Special Edition and loading it. So, what you're seeing is me standing in the same spot at the same time of day with the same weather conditions in both games.
The image from classic Skyrim is on the left, and Special Edition is on the right. A handy slider lets you compare them. This was taken near Riften, and you can see the colors in Special Edition are much richer.
The sky is more blue and the yellow of the leaves is brighter. The water looks less greasy and oily as well. Here's a glance toward Solitude, and in addition to slightly lusher plants and considerably bluer skies, you can see some additional details on the buildings, particularly the windmill in the top left corner. The lighting looks much better as well: it feels much more like actual daytime. Here's the waterfall near Dragonbridge. Again, the skies are a much deeper blue, trees in the far distance look a trifle less cartoony, and the lighting of the landscape in the background gives more feeling of depth than the original.
Sunrise outside Markarth. Again, improved lighting makes the details of landscape in the distance, as well as the horse and cart, much easier to see. And we can also see some added details here and there, like the foliage along the staircase and cobblestone path.
It appears there haven't been improvements to the character models—they're still pretty uggo—though they look a bit better under the improved lighting. You can also see a few little bits of added foliage along the road.
